I want you to take a minute to put yourself in my shoes
[[Women’s size 7, so they’re small shoes]]
I have worked HARD for 7 years
SEVEN years of being employed, like everybody else, working through school. By the grace of God, I got straight A’s, perfect attendance, and lettered in five different things junior year of High School. I got my first job that year, and have worked ever since. At my first job (Mervyn’s) I rose up in the ranks and got Jewelry department keys after 3 months. They trusted me. I volunteered on the side and I still do. I have gotten awards for working hard. My name is on a plaque in Sherman at Carino’s. I am not a lazy person, and I am not a freeloader. What I’m saying here is that I’m not stopping my work ethic.
I’m not about to take a big-o vacation around the world and kick back.
I’m going on a very serious, 11-month trip for ministry. Basically I’m working for the Lord for 11 months.
The same way that a pastor or a youth pastor or anybody that works at church works for the Lord.
HOWEVER… I’m not on a church payroll. Part of a church giving doesn’t come to me to feed me and meet my needs.
I need people (Christian, Jewish, Atheist, Hippie, whatever you are, I love you all the same!) to step up and support me financially.
I’m going to WORK, and this I can promise you! Whatever is presented in front of me, I will do it. If you’ve ever worked with me, you know I will be doing my best to be smiling the WHOLE time. I will do manual labor, I will teach, I will tell people about the Lord, I will do a lot of hugging and random singing, yes, but I will do it with all my heart.
I want you to be certain that I will be a good servant and my heart is in this.
I sold all my stuff. I’m quitting my job to go. This is a HUGE deal to me, and it’s not some spontaneous random trip. There’s been a lot of prayer and effort put into this.
Right now I hope you’re not thinking “my, this Helena girl is so great, she’s awesome! Yeah I trust her with my money” because all the glory is to the Lord and the reason I work is to please the Lord. You should think “wow, the Lord has really done work in her life, He’s so awesome! Yeah I trust HIM with money! It's HIS money, anyway!”
Out of love for Him, I do this.
Because He called me to go, I am going.
Now step out of my (tiny) shoes and
grab your wallet (please)
Would you send me? Will you support me financially? Will you do a 3-month $100 pledge?
$100 in October
$100 in November
$100 in December
I’m not asking if you can do it, I’m asking if you will.
You can give for 3 months, and watch 11 months of God’s work unfold, and be rewarded in knowing that you gave to it. There’s so much more you will reap that I don’t even know about, but the Lord does.
Will you do it right now? Click “SUPPORT ME!” on the upper left side.
IF 25 PEOPLE DO THIS, MY TRIP WILL BE PAID FOR
I am praying that the Lord rewards you in a crazy awesome way, and He is SO faithful to answer prayer!
If you navigate away from this blog without giving, please take a second to pray that someone else will give. Take a moment to leave me a comment and encourage me. Asking for support isn’t easy, but the cross wasn’t easy. If Jesus could do that for me, this is cake.
Love you guys so much, and thank you for reading & giving of your time.

Hi Helena,
I follow you on twitter, and you followed me back. 🙂
I can’t even remember how I came across your blog here, but I think I found it before I found your twitter. It’s very odd but I can’t even remember how I came across either of them. I rarely follow people I do not know, but somehow there’s a connection – I think it was just the compelling nature of your desire for Christ that made me want to follow you. I’ve been coming back to your blog often and I read what you write. It pushes me closer to the Lord and makes me want more of Him. The fact that we are sisters in Christ keeps me coming back even though I don’t know you and you don’t know me, we have a mutual Friend. 🙂
I’ve read this particular blog post twice and I have prayed for you, and that others will give. I had never heard of Adventures in Missions, nor of the World Race. I’ve been looking into the World Race and I know the Lord will use and bless you on your journey! I will pray for you when I think of you, and when I read your blog.
Though there are other racers out there, somehow the Lord brought me to you. I don’t know why or how (and I can’t even remember when), but I’m glad He did.
May God receive all the glory for your journey. You are keeping Him as the center – keep your face like a flint and your eyes strongly fixed upon Him. There are a few sayings from Oswald Chambers that the Lord has hit me hard with lately that are extremely encouraging and “heart-filleting” as I’ll call it. I don’t often like sayings outside of God’s Word itself, but the Word that became flesh is Jesus and these do point to Him. I hope they encourage you, as they have me.
“To be a disciple is to be a devoted love-slave of the Lord Jesus.”
“The central thing about the kingdom of Jesus Christ is a personal relationship to Himself, not public usefulness to men.”
“No Christian has a special work to do. A Christian is called to be Jesus Christ’s own, one who is not above his Master, one who does not dictate to Jesus Christ what he intends to do. Our Lord calls to no special work: He calls to Himself.”
You are being called so much closer to Christ in what you are doing, and you are being a devoted love-slave of our Lord. Continue to walk in Him and be blessed.
With love from a stranger – in Christ,
Brittney
