You’d think the best packing blog ever would list out how many shirts, how many pants, gadgets, adaptors, toiletries, snacks to pack, and hipster camping gear.

Actual packing advice. There’s nothing wrong with seeking this out, it is wise.

But if you’re launching in 2 weeks and you are FREAKING OUT about packing...

this is the best packing blog ever!

Here’s what you’re worried about:

Am I going to forget anything?

How will I get everything I need in my backpack?

How do I even pack for eleven months and eleven countries?

You’re not going to forget anything! You have all you need!

Say it out loud, because it’s true. Declare it.

"I’M NOT GOING TO FORGET ANYTHING! I HAVE ALL I NEED!

BECAUSE THE LORD CALLED ME, AND I AM GOING."

HE DIDN’T CALL 2 PAIRS OF PANTS.

HE DIDN’T CALL A HEADPHONE SPLITTER.

HE DIDN’T CALL A RESPECTABLE SUPPLY OF WET WIPES.

HE DIDN’T CALL YOUR TOMS.

HE DIDN’T CALL YOUR NALGENE BOTTLE.

HE CALLED YOU AND YOUR JESUS-FILLED HEART.

So whatever you put inside your backpack isn’t the point, because He will provide for you.

So what if you forget something? Odds are, your teammates will give you the shirts off their backs.

I will share with you anything you’ve forgotten. It is my joy to let you have it.

Take a deep breath. Don’t go too crazy. Don’t go on a shopping spree. You are enough.

You are enough. You get to take a backpack and a carry-on, but you’re bringing Jesus inside you. As long as He goes, you haven’t forgotten anything.

If you must have a packing list, here’s one:

1 belt of truth

1 breastplate of righteousness

2 feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace

1 shield of faith, with which to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one

1 helmet of salvation

1 sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God

My prayer for you, racer, is that whenever you open your mouth, words may be given to you so that you will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.

Pack with grace.

Pack with abandon.

Pack with joy! 

Give a person a packing list,

and they’ll probably still think they forgot something.

Teach a person how to pack with abandon...

and their heart will be flooded with peace.
