Yes, it is too soon to pack.
But is it ever too soon to ponder packing?
I say no.
11 months living out of a backpack? It's gonna take grace and strategy!
Here’s the advice I have gleaned from diligent research/creeping on alumni blogs.
- Pack about a week’s worth of clothing.
- Make sure everything is knee-length and modest.
- Keep in mind you can buy clothes anywhere for cheap.
- Attention: tents are importent. I have every intent to purchase my tent very soon. Tentatively this weekend. I’m content with my intentional and inten(t)se usage of the word tent in these senten(t)ces. Tentacles.
- Some people hammock?! Is that even safe? *pondering*
- Ladies should pack black underwear. Okay, done.
- Mixed messages on whether to bring massive amounts of feminine products or to obtain such products as you go. I say pack.
- Someone said to bring a straightener/curling iron. I think I can manage this, and I will share :]
- This gem comes from my mom, ready? “PACK SO MUCH DEODORANT!” and I have to agree. It is inevitable that we will be stinky, but we can try to fight it. I’m taking 5.
- Music, laptop, camera… essential. I’m bringing my Nook also!
- Some say books… don’t hurt your back packing a library though. I’m bringing 2 real books.
- I’m going to bring a journal and some awesome pens and pencils, for “without the laptop” times.
- Arts and crafts? If you’re crafty, pack some. I’m bringing some knitting.
I do hope we get more packing advice in training camp. I’ll also be getting in touch with a few of the alumni women and asking them for more tips. I will promptly post what I gather!
Love in Christ,
Helena
